On Father’s Day, Sunday, June 18, the 33rd Classics Against Cancer car show was held at Cedarvale Park in Georgetown. I estimate over 300 cars, trucks, vans, hot roads and antique vehicles were on display. The parking lot was overflowing for the public and the side streets were all full of the thousands of visitors’ vehicles. Yes, it sure was packed. As you can see from the photos there were some wonderful vehicles on display. There were many food vendors as well as booths of souvenir items and fun things for the kids to enjoy.
For some 18 years I was a member of the organizing committee and even emceed many shows. However, it was nice to be a visitor without the responsibilities. Congratulations to the ongoing chairman Chris Crane, his organizing committee and the dozens of volunteers. I am sure many thousands of dollars were raised for worthy organizations to help in the battle against cancer.
The weather was perfect for this wonderful event. I look forward to next year’s. This was the first event for three years due to Covid and one can see it had been missed, by the number of vehicles on display as well as the thousands of visitors enjoying this annual event.
Here are photos of some of the vehicles that impressed me.
