What is Niagara Escarpment Views?

Niagara Escarpment Views began in 2008 as Escarpment Views. It is a quarterly magazine dedicated to the people who cherish the beauty and uniqueness of the Niagara Escarpment. Its readers choose to live and work in the communities along this natural and geological wonder. The magazine celebrates its people, nature, history, gardens, shops, public spaces and hidden treasures. Finely written articles present the best and most fascinating aspects of the lifestyles, enterprises, art, history, and nature located near the Escarpment. Full-colour photographs offer gorgeous views throughout the seasons.

Who’s Behind the Magazine

Gloria Hildebrandt

Niagara Escarpment Views is the idea of Gloria Hildebrandt, a well-known local writer, editor and journalist who is based at Orchard House in the country above the Escarpment north of Georgetown. She has been editor of Caledon Living and an investigative reporter for The North Halton Compass.

Gloria’s roots in Escarpment country go back to 1964. She has been a freelancer for the Independent and The Herald, two Georgetown newspapers, and for The Tackaberry Times. She has also written for such national magazines as Canadian Living, Maclean’s, Flare and Homes & Cottages. She has taught writing courses at Seneca College, Sheridan College and Ryerson University.

As Editor of Niagara Escarpment Views, Gloria ensures the excellence, high quality, focus and enjoyment that readers have come to expect from her, and that advertisers have appreciated as delivering customers to their messages.

Mike Davis

Mike Davis is co-publisher of Niagara Escarpment Views and also does much of the photography for the magazine. In 2014 he won a Conservation Halton award in the Media/Blogger category for his photography. That same year, one of his photographs of a wedding party caught on a railway track, was published on the front page of The Toronto Star and appeared in 11 regional publications. His work has also been published in Caledon Living. His fresh eye and enthusiasm for local photography has received many accolades from readers and subscribers.

As Accounts Manager, he works closely with our valued advertisers. His dedication to personal customer service is an important reason for the success of Niagara Escarpment Views. Georgetown has been his home his whole life. He is the owner of an environmental engineering firm since 1994, J. M. Davis and Associates Limited. His knowledge of and political service to the community all help him bring sensitivity and a strong business focus to the goals of advertisers.
