Here’s news provided by the office of MPP Bill Walker, mentioning Bruce Power. Both Minister Walker & Bruce Power are supporters of Niagara Escarpment Views magazine. The news begins here:
Bruce-Grey-Owen Sound MPP Bill Walker is excited about the opportunity to serve as the new Associate Minister of Energy in Premier Doug Ford’s cabinet.
The Premier announced his new cabinet on June 20th. The changes ensure that the Government of Ontario will effectively continue with its agenda of creating good jobs, supporting small businesses, putting more money in people’s pockets and restoring trust and accountability in government, while also protecting what matters most through sound investments in health care and education.
MPP Walker will stay in cabinet, but will move from Government and Consumer Services to Energy, which is responsible for ensuring a safe, reliable and affordable energy supply across Ontario.
“I’m very excited to have the opportunity to serve as Associate Minister of Energy,” said Walker. “Bruce Power is one of the key partners in our province’s energy sector and it’s right in our backyard here in Bruce and Grey. Energy is a very important portfolio and I look forward to getting to work together with the Minister of Energy, Northern Development and Mines, and Minister of Indigenous Affairs Greg Rickford so we can deliver a modern, transparent and accountable electricity system that works for the people and businesses of Ontario.”
Walker has served as PC Caucus Nuclear Chair for a number of years and prior to being elected MPP, he worked as Operations Manager at Bruce Power.
After a fast-paced first year in government that saw 20 pieces of legislation passed in 117 days, through four sittings of the Legislature, 85 per cent of the total commitments the government made to the people of Ontario have been completed or put into action.
