I have been going to this show for probably some 20 years and as regards attendance, I believe this one was a record, more than 371,000 in the 10 days. There are more changes in the auto industry now than ever before. It was always gas engines and some diesel, but now it is goodbye to those and hello to more hybrids, electric vehicles and hydrogen powered!
The show was a myriad of choices for the consumer with a large majority of manufacturers present. New products were everywhere with hybrids and EVs very prominent with all makes. Of note were quite a few newcomers including Vinfast from Vietnam who, like Tesla have only EVs in their range.
The variety of demonstrations and different “fun” displays was great; the Jeep test track was hugely popular, an indoor track with bumps and steep hills and all vehicles EVs. Then you can actually test drive many different EVs on a quarter km track indoors. From Barbie’s Chev to Batmobile to Hot Wheels and Lego cars, the kids would enjoy and the child in us adults as well.
In all the years I have been to the show I have never seen so many exotic vehicles: Lamborghini, Paganini, Ferrari, Bugatti, McLaren, Rolls Royce, Bentley and more. The value of these many amazing vehicles must be unbelievable. These displays were by Autostrada, and Grand Touring Autos, who were celebrating 50 years.
There were beautiful classic racing/sports cars shown by the famous Cobble Beach annual event. Porsche had a whole hall full of these amazing vehicles. I actually visited the Porsche museum on a visit to Germany a few years ago.
If you are window shopping for a new car there is nothing like this event.
All in all, a great showing of major manufacturers and lots more.
